The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

Having just completed The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition I highly recommend reliving this classic point and click adventure title. The writing is as witty as it was in 1990, accompanied by wonderfully redesigned illustrations.

Blueberry Garden on Steam

Erik Svedängs award winning and highly original game is now available for purchase. My only complaint is that without a Home key it is almost impossible to play. (this only effects users with non-standard keyboard layouts, however a key binding option would be a welcome addition.)

Year of the Independents

Brisbane has been a significant contributor in videogame development for many years. Recently, however, key studios have been shut down and while some designers have found work in competing studios, others have opted to work independently.

As a big supporter of independent videogames I look forward to the result of this shift. While we wait to see what Brisbanes indie scene will yield, there is a great batch of international titles recently shown at GDC which have caught my eye. Ether for art direction or innovation in game play mechanics, in some instances, both.
